Frequently Asked Questions

What impact will it have on our power bill by switching to energy efficient windows?

Beginning in 1992, with help from ENERGY STAR®, American families and businesses were able to save $297 billion on utility bills and prevented more than 2.1 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions by 2013. Each Pella® product meets or exceeds ENERGY STAR certification in all 50 states and most of Canada. What impact will this have on you? Not only could you notice a decrease to your heating and cooling bill, you’ll also help protect the environment.

How much will my replacement door or replacement windows project cost?

Our windows and doors are specifically designed and custom-made for your home, meaning no two projects are identical. Our wide range of products make it nearly impossible to discuss pricing without first understanding your wants and needs and the project results you envision. Due to this nature, we find it helpful to send out a Pella sales representative who can provide you with a quoted project price after seeing the project site itself. To accelerate the quoting process, your Pella® sales representative is armed with a computer and a portable printer so that they’ll have all the quote information you’ll need—as soon as the sales representative has had a chance to consider the requirements of the project and aligns them with your vision.

In addition to offering a wide range of high-quality products to pick from, we also have a generous offering of payment and finance options. Pella is uniquely-suited to offer you excellent window and door products at affordable prices, providing you with a chance to make the renovations you want to while building great value into your Shrewsbury area home all the while.

Can I paint my vinyl windows?

The benefit of Pella's® vinyl windows is that you won’t have to. The windows can be customize to the color your want. We do not recommend painting your vinyl products, as this will terminate your warranty. Some paint companies say that their paint can adhere to vinyl, but it could ruin your windows if the wrong paint is applied or done incorrectly.

What should I use to clean my glass windows?

We suggest that you clean them with a prepackaged vinegar-based cleaning mix or use an ammonia-free glass cleaner such as Windex or Sparkle. You can also make your own with one part vinegar to ten parts water. Apply the solution to a soft, clean microfiber cloth or paper towel. We do not suggest using glass cleaners that are ammonia- or alcohol-based because they could leave streaks or create a film that magnetizes moisture and dust.

Do Pella® employees actually install your replacement windows and doors?

Pella uses dependable installers who are certified to install Pella windows and doors. We require them to complete a thorough set of training courses so that your windows and doors are correctly installed and meet Pella’s strict warranty standards. We look for the best Shrewsbury-local people and recruit them to install our projects. Prior to beginning our relationship, Pella requires them to pass a drug test and background check. Our installers are fully covered by liability and workers compensation insurance. Beyond Pella product warranties, your installation is also covered for 10 years under the installation limited warranty and service agreement.

What's different about buying replacement windows and doors from local Pella® showrooms versus buying from retailers like Lowe’s?

Your Shrewsbury Pella branch offers services and support that “big box” stores can’t match. Our experts are highly-trained in selling, installing, and servicing Pella Windows & Doors. Using a dedicated Pella sales team, project manager, local service technicians, and quality installers means that your renovation will have the knowledge of our whole team. We frequently use the term “single source accountability”, meaning that there’s no one to chase down regarding a product, installation, or warranty issue. You can easily contact your sales representative or our main office if you have any concerns and we will get to work resolving the issue.
